TAGB Sankranthi 2020 Celebrations

Sankranthi Sambaralu - సంక్రాంతి సంబరాలు
Thank you all for attending and making Sankranthi Sambaralu, conducted on February 1st, 2020 at Bellingham High School, a GRAND SUCCESS.

More than 500 people attended the event. The school premises and the auditorium were decorated with Sankranthi themed ‘Bommala Koluvu’ and ‘Gangireddu’, ‘Haridasu’, kites, village houses, and haystacks. (* See pictures below)

We conducted story telling competitions in Telugu and many kids participated in them very enthusiastically and impressed the audience with their creative story telling skills.

The program comprised of 35 programs and more than 200 participants with wide variety, including classical music, sloka rendition, folk and film song dances. Program started off with the traditional ‘Bhogipallu’ for children. Some of the attractions included dances ‘Bharata Vedamugaa’, ‘Shiva Sthuthi’, ‘Devi’, ‘Puthadi Bommalu’ and more dance medleys by kids and adults alike.

A very colorful and elegant fashion show by Rekha Avvaru's team; a folk dance “Exploring AP and Telangana”, which brought to life the folk-dance forms of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states, choreographed by Ruby Boyanapalli and Kiranmai Jonnabhatla; and a group rendition of Saint Tyagaraja’s Divya Naama Kritis by Valli Amaravadi's team were some of the other highlights.

The evening’s cultural programs ended with a novel grand finale - “Musical Dhamaka by Berklee College of Music” by four very talented young men, Priyant Sundas (Guitar), Sai Raman (Tabla), Georgio Albaneese (Accordion) and Nario Zidon (Saxophone), who presented a fusion of Western classical and Jazz music with Indian Classical and Film music. The program was received with great appreciation from the audience.

It takes the great efforts of many selfless volunteers to make any program or organization successful. All the committee members were introduced to the audience in a fun filled special program with team specific theme songs. TAGB recognized and honored the exceptional services of the following committee members: Suseela Majety (Registraion), Vijaya Tallam (Decoration), Kiranmai Chaturvedula (Cultural), Ravindra Mekala (Food), Raveendra Pamujula (Sports) and Ramayya Darbhamulla (Sports) on this occasion.

The new executive committee for the year 2020-21 was introduced to the audience by the Election Committee.
Ramakrishna Penumarthy as President,
Sudha Mulpur as Secretary,
Venkat Pappala as Treasurer,
Ramana Duggaraju as President-Elect,
